Hailing from The Poconos in Pennsylvania, Brian Ruth is the Original Master of the Chainsaw. Brian graduated from Villanova University with a degree in business and finance in 1979. Soon after his graduation, Brian witnessed his first live chainsaw carving. The experience led him to pursue a lifelong career of chainsaw carvings – a momentous and fateful moment not only for Brian but for the chainsaw carving community as a whole. With a unique background in business and finance and uncanny talent with the chainsaw Brian has transformed the world of extreme chainsaw carvings. As one of the two founding proprietors of the Masters of the Chainsaw, Brian built a unique agency from the ground up that represented the greatests carver's in the world.
Currently, Brian and the carvers represented by Masters of the Chainsaw have carved in over one thousand events across the globe. Masters of the Chainsaw even expanded into Toei, Japan in 2001, where Brian has taught many students the fine art of chainsaw carving.
Brian continues to perform both domestically and internationally.
Brian also hosts his annual Masters of the Chainsaw X-Treme Power Carving Competition in Schnecksville Pennsylvania at the Schnecksville Fair. This competition hosts the worlds top carvers in a 3 day themed and timed, chainsaw only competition. The artists are seeking the prestigious title of "Master of the Chainsaw".
This company has represented some of the most respected artists in the U.S., such as Brian Ruth, Ben Risney, Josh Landry, Mark Tyoe and Marty Long, Mountain Mike Ayers, James Link, Michael Blaine, and countless others as well as select artists from other countries.
Tōei Japan hosts a large international Master of the Chainsaw carving competition each May with upwards of 60 artists.
